After the great successes in 2021 and 2022, LUMAGICA is coming to Hattingen again this year to provide visitors with magical moments of light and happiness in the dark season. You simply have to see it!
While in 2021 it was the land of fire that could be marvelled at on the grounds of the LWL Museum Henrichshütte, in 2022 the four elements of fire, water, air and earth were discovered together with the museum rat. At the end was the search for a treasure.
This year, it is a former smelter worker who will answer his grandchildren's questions about "back then at the smelter" and invite them on a tour of the fascinating site. Everywhere will sparkle and shine thanks to the artists from MK Illuminations - thousands of LED lamps will transform the former hut site into a magical, mystical place for the senses. A two-kilometre tour leads visitors along squares and winding paths past figures and installations. This year, the blast furnace will once again be the centre of attention - but in a different way to previous years. This is important to the organisers: to offer something new every year. This year, for example, visitors can catch a glimpse of the local registry office with its illuminated dancing figures or experience an impressive Sound2light show on the main square.
LUMAGICA is also a stroke of luck for the LWL Museum, as even more visitors come to the site. And what a lot there is to see! The event is an absolute MUST for photography enthusiasts. In addition to the illuminated blast furnace, there have been countless figures and fairy lights to marvel at in the last two years - locomotives, houses, penguins, trees, ships - it's just amazing! I can't wait to see what there is to see this time! At the end of the circular route this year, there will be a souvenir photo to symbolically join the human chain of the former Henrichshütte. Do you still remember it?
Henrichshütte was a huge employer for Hattingen, sometimes providing 10,000 jobs. At the end of the 1950s, part of the Ruhr was even relocated because the company needed more space. But the steel history came to an end in 1987. The company closed down and people took to the streets - thousands joined a human chain. Incidentally, there is still an exhibition on the museum grounds today featuring steelworkers who were there. And now you can be there too - in a very special way thanks to LUMAGICA.
I'm really looking forward to LUMAGICA 2023. It starts on 24 November 2023 at 5 pm. You can take the magical tour until 14 January 2024. The last admission is at 8.30 pm. You can buy tickets online and at the box office. You can do this online on the official homepage LUMAGICA
Make yourself happy and let your mind wander - or make your family happy (or give them a present). Oh yes, you don't have to worry about the environment - because the makers of LUMAGICA have that on their radar, of course. The LED lights are absolutely energy-saving. It's simply a heart-warmingly beautiful event.
One more thing comes to mind: Perhaps you would like to use LUMAGICA for a very personal, magical declaration of love? You could even propose to the love of your life at the local registry office with its illuminated dancing figures. If you would like to do this, you are welcome to contact us at Hattingen Tourismus and we will try to help you plan your magical moment on site. On top of that, we'll give you a free Hattingen sparkling wine to toast with.
